The mountains of Sierra Morena, a place to get lost
Our cottage is located in the Sierra Morena Cordovan, the inhabitants of the area know it as "the Sierra de Los Pedroches". There are 10,000 hectares dedicated to the production of high quality oil.
One day the people of Los Pedroches decided to plant these olive trees doing a gigantic job by cultivating each olive tree one by one, these centenary olive trees are now dedicated to the production of organic oil.
Andalusia is the largest oil-producing region and Córdoba is one of the leading provinces. A good part of the towns of Los Pedroches base their traditional culture on the culture of the olive grove. This fact has occurred here, south of Los Pedroches, where some towns base part of their economy on the olive grove of the sierra.
Near our cottage you can go hiking as well as observing nature and especially bird watching, since in this little-known area of Andalusia there is a great diversity of birds. Throughout the year you can see a multitude of birds and raptors in Los Pedroches such as owls, eagles, vultures, water birds, cranes, herons, storks and a variety of small birds.
In Obejo, a small town in the Sierra Morena de Córdoba, 12 kilometers from our house, it is worth noting the dance called "Bachimachia". This dance is celebrated twice, the Sunday closest to March 24 and the second Saturday in July, coinciding with the feast of San Benito. After the mass, in the hermitage of San Benito, the procession is celebrated. The architecture of this hermitage is typical of the 18th century.
